Dances We Teach

Regardless of whether you want to learn one dance, or many dances, we have a great variety of social dances on offer that are sure to get you dancing in no time.

Rumba
Perfect for slow love songs, R&B songs, rock ballads and a huge variety of music, Rumba is our most common wedding dance and is known for its passion and romance. It’s the dance of love. As a latin dance, the Rumba is known for its sensual hip movement.

Foxtrot
One of the easiest dances to learn as a beginner, we often refer to the Foxtrot as the walking dance. We reckon “if you can walk – you can Foxtrot”! The Foxtrot can be danced to a variety of tempos, but is most commonly danced to swing or big band music. Think Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin or Brian Setzer Orchestra.  A staple at weddings, big band events, and gala balls, the Foxtrot has smooth movement and really covers the dance floor.

Waltz
The Waltz is probably best known for being a more ‘traditional’ dance. In days gone by, it was the dance of choice for newlyweds, sharing their first dance as husband and wife in a formal setting. Elegant and graceful, the Waltz, with its unique timing and technique, is still enjoyed today. The feeling of gliding across the dance floor is amazing!

Cha Cha
Fun. Cheeky. Sexy. These are the words that best describe the Cha Cha. If Rumba is the dance of love, then Cha Cha is the dance of lust! Also a latin dance, the Cha Cha has a syncopated rhythm and lots of open movements and turns. When danced with ease, the Cha Cha is incredibly impressive to watch!

Tango
The fiery Tango! It’s passionate and dramatic. With its sharp movements and intricate footwork, Tango is fast becoming more and more popular with wedding couples and social dancers alike. The Tango has a very distinct style and was most recently danced in movies such as Shall We Dance and True Lies.

Swing
Similar to a Jive, the Swing is fast, fun and best danced to rock and roll music. With its relaxed style and quick footwork, this dance is sure to make dancers of all levels smile.

Samba
Sexy and exotic, the Samba is a latin dance that’s sure to get the hips shaking! With its origins in brazil, the Samba has a pronounced ‘rocking’ motion and sway.

Viennese Waltz
Elegant, graceful and smooth, the Viennese Waltz is the fastest of the Waltz tempos. With its smooth turns, dancers seem to glide across the floor with grace and ease. Although it’s most commonly associated with classical composers, there are many modern songs today that are Viennese Waltz timing.

Bolero
Derived from the Rumba the Bolero is sensual, beautiful, romantic. Danced to very slow Rumba music, the idea of Bolero is a little like a game of yes, no, come here, go away. I love you, I love you not. Ahhh....sigh!
